Mechanics for the 3rd Tri-Sci-Math Wizard Tournament

General Rules
  1. Tri-Sci-Math Wizard Tournament is a team competition. A team is composed of three members.

  2. Calculators are not allowed during the entire Quiz Bowl.

  3. The Quiz Committee shall provide the answer sheets.

  4. The Quiz show consists of three phases: Elimination Phase and Final Phase. The Elimination Phase is a written exam; and a Cut-Down Score is to be set by the Quiz Committee. Final Phase is a Oral Quiz Bowl, consisting of three (3) Rounds There are 15 questions for each round.

  5. In the Final Phase, at the end of each Round, 25% will be eliminated, unless otherwise the number of teams qualified is insufficient

  6. In case of a tie, clincher questions will be given.

  7. The Registration should be submitted on December 4, 2019, from 8:00 AM to 5 PM to any of of the Quizzers of the BUChE Department. The registration fee for the Tournament is PhP 50.00. You can download the Registration Form here.

Contest Procedures

  1. Contestants shall be given a time limit to answer the questions. Timing will the start after the question has been read twice.

  2. Each team shall write their answers on the provided answer sheets, and these shall be submitted to the usher assigned to them.

  3. Rounding-off calculated values shall be done in the final answers only; free-floating decimals should be kept during the preliminary calculations.

  4. If the required answer is a word or a phrase, correct spelling, including capitalization and punctuation shall be strictly checked.

  5. Correct answers will be awarded by its corresponding point. Wrong answers will have a demerit equivalent to half of the points allotted. No answer, no point.

  6. Protests regarding a particular question shall be made before the reading of the next question. Protests raised after the next question has been read will no longer be entertained. The Decision of the Board of Judges is final and not subject to appeal.

  7. Final answers should be boxed otherwise the answer will be invalid.

  8. Changing of answers is allowed as long as there is still time remaining. The new answers will only be valid if its boxed and the original answer is erased. At the end of each round, the bottom 25% will be eliminated.

  9. The top three placers will be declared as Tri-Sci-Math Wizards (Grand Master Wizards, Great Wizards, Wizards)

  10. Corresponding Rewards/Prizes shall be awarded to the winners
