History

The Bicol University College of Engineering opened the course Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in academic year 2000-2001. Through the dynamic effort of the former Department Head, Dr. Natividad M. Padre and the pioneer class, the organization was established, with Mr. Jed M. Bellen as its first president. The organization was affiliated with Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers as a junior chapter of the Batangas Chapter in 2002.  The following year, the organization now bears the name Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers – Junior Chapter V (PIChE-JCV). Finally, the PIChE-JCV is now affiliated to PIChE- Junior Chapter Luzon (JCL) which enables the organization to represent Bicol University as the only school in the Bicol region that offers the chemical engineering program.
