BU ChE Department welcomes its 2019 freshmen, shifters and transferees

The BU Chemical Engineering Department congratulates and welcomes 110 freshmen, 2 transferees and 7 shifters as its new students this 1st Semester, SY 2019-2020. It is the first time that the Department accepts three (3) block sections for freshmen, thus increasing the student population to about 235, in which 46.2% are freshmen, 34.5% are sophomores and 19.3% are seniors.

Among the freshmen, majority are scholars (51.8%), and half are males. Of the 110 new students, 47.3% are qualified, 20.0% are waitlisted, and 32.7% are below quota students. Majority come from National High Schools ( 56%), followed by those coming from College/University High Schools (24%) and Science High Schools (21%). As per strand taken in Senior High School, 90.0% are from STEM, 5.5% are from GAS, 3.3% are from ABM, and 0.9% from HUMSS. Tabaco National High School has the most alumni (13), followed by Legazpi City Science High School (9), and Bicol Regional Science High School and Gallanosa National High School (both has 7).

For those qualified students that opted to enter the Department, Mr. Rhazier Aeron C. Galicia has the highest BUCET Composite Rating (95.8500), followed by Mr. Jesian Kieth L. Herman (95.8000) and Mr. Gilbert Lance O. Obsequio (95.3088). The Department has assigned 37 students to Block A, 37 students to Block B and 36 students to Block C.

New students also include 2 transferees, one (1) from Technological University of the Philippines - Manila and one (1) from Catanduanes State University; and 7 shifters, five (5) from BU Polangui Campus, one each from BU College of Science and BU Tabaco Campus.
​
The College, with the BUCENG CSC, will organize the College Freshmen Orientation on June 14, 2019, at 1:00 PM at the New CE Hall. The Department also will organize Departmental Freshmen Orientation, together with PIChE-JCV, at the start of classes in August.
